Autorretrato — Installed Sound Composition

Improvisation-based composition turned sound installation, 2012.

To face the sound of our ghosts. To (re-)create our imaginary self beyond the Other’s image. To trace our own image as we see it or as we want it to be seen.

Édgar Guzmán

Édgar Guzmán is one of the most adventurous freelance composers of his generation. His acoustic, electronic and mixed media work has been performed in Mexico, United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Austria, France, Poland, Germany, Switzerland and Netherlands. His musical production is comprised of commissioned by and dedicatory pieces to a number of orchestras, ensembles and performers such as the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de México, Orquesta Sinfónica Mexiquense, Los Angeles Phillarmonic, Ensamble Liminar, Ensamble de Música Contemporánea de la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, Camerata de las Américas, International Contemporary Ensemble, Wilfrido Terrazas, Alexander Bruck, Rebekah Heller, Kivie Canh-Lipman, Ryan Muncy and David Bowlin among others. Édgar Guzmán is currently a member of FONCA’s Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (Mexico).
