The hybrid workshop is sound, movement, real time video feed. In the age where tech takes over the cultural arena, how can we beat back the media source? Literally box around with it, why not, says Logan and her mitstreiters at the Digital media department of the Angewandte.
Hung up boxing bags have microphones and very large handmade filters, these feed into a video synth creating a loop which is projected on stage. The boxing bags do need to be punched in order to activate the this, bright colored of sourced vinyl add to the playful arena of partial dance, partial martial arts sound performance. Pleasure in pain as sweat pours through the performers’ pores. Physicality of sound making not as a trained musician, but as a trained, endurance of high intensity movement.
